In 1942, Adolf Hitler issued a so-called Führer order commanding the transfer of 120,000 Luftwaffe soldiers to the infantry. As a result, the personnel strength of the anti-aircraft units, among others, was significantly reduced. This decision was compensated for by the deployment of young people in the Luftwaffe as war helpers. From December 1942, the first students and apprentices were available and were trained in the use of various anti-aircraft weapons. 200,000 boys were drafted as Luftwaffe helpers until the end of the war. Luftwaffe helpers had legal non-combatant status, which was often changed at the end of the war. From then on, they were members of the Wehrmacht.
