The story of the Spanish national hero Rodrigo Diaz, better known as El Cid, presented through 26 full-page and exclusively colour illustrations. Each of the colour drawings is accompanied by a full-page explanatory text explaining the scene depicted and its background. In addition to the 26 colour pages, there are a further 19 pictorial pages with b/w illustrations, which on the one hand show typical weapons and pieces of armour of the 11th century, and on the other hand depict conceptual drawings by the artist Justo Jimeno.
