The princely tombs of the Celts were richly furnished with grave goods, as for example near the Heuneburg or in Hochdorf. Using the latest scientific methods, Johanna Banck-Burgess shows that all these grave goods - even the walls of the chambers and the furniture - were once covered in fabric. However, textiles were not only an indicator and component of burial customs and beliefs, but above all a means of communication and demonstration of power, a product of elaborate manufacturing processes and, last but not least, an important economic factor.
