This monograph uses various sources, including numerous archival documents, to illustrate the formation and development process of the Technical Service of the Red Army Air Forces in the interwar period (1921-1941). The study identifies and analyses the most important factors that led to the establishment and further development of the operational and technical service of the Red Army Air Forces in the interwar period. It examines the processes of development of the organisational and personnel structure of the operational and technical service in the air units, commands and associations, the development of the central administrative bodies of the operational and technical service, improvement of the system of technical maintenance of aviation technology and the expansion of the network of military educational institutions in the interwar period, which trained engineering and technical personnel for the air forces of the RKT. The organisation of the technical training of engineering and technical personnel and their familiarisation with new aviation technology, the identification and elimination of design and production defects in aviation technology, as well as information on the study of foreign experience in the operation of aviation technology and on all heads of the operational and technical service of the RKS Air Force in the period under consideration.

The publication is intended for teachers of military history and engineering and aviation service, scientists, students and cadets of military aviation and engineering schools, as well as anyone interested in the history of the domestic air forces.
