Description
Guido Steinberg's comprehensive, never alarmist political analysis traces the radicalisation of potential fighters for God and al-Qaida and places the phenomenon in the international development of Islamist terrorism. Exclusively for the German edition, Steinberg expands his book to include a chapter on the German holy warriors in Syria. He urgently warns of a development that could return there from Germany.
The German jihadist scene has been considered the most dynamic in Europe since 2007. Nowhere else in the Western world has the number of recruits for al-Qaida and Co. grown as fast as here. German religious warriors, converts as well as immigrants, travel to countries like Pakistan, Chechnya and Somalia, are trained there and used in terrorist and military combat. In the meantime, many of them have combat experience, acquired for example in Afghanistan and for some years now also in Syria.
