This book is the story of Sumner Sewall, Maines WWI fighter ace, during his flying career. Sumner flew with the 95th Aero Squadron, U.S.A.S., of the First Pursuit Group, where he fortunately survived the harrowing experience of being shot down in flames to achieve acedom. Many of Sumners contemporaries remain in France, having sacrificed their lives in the Great War. Fortunately, Sumner returned home after the war and was prominent in Maine business and political life, later serving as governor of Maine during WW2. The book has 25 paintings and posters, 187 photos, 18 in color, and color profile and plan views of 3 aircraft in its 154 pages.
