Allied Field Cars in Wehrmacht Service. Bantam BRC-40, Willys MB, Ford GPW and GAZ-64

To expand its vehicle fleet during World War II, the German Wehrmacht relied heavily on captured vehicles. Regarding the off-road vehicles manufactured in the USA and the Soviet Union (Bantam BRC-40, Willys MB, Ford GPW, and GAZ-64the so-called "captured vehicles"), their scarcity in German service meant that, until now, they had never been the subject of a dedicated monograph. Until now. It is something of a small miracle thatafter nearly 40 years of collectingno fewer than 118 contemporary wartime photos of these American and Soviet off-road vehicles in Wehrmacht service could be assembled to document this previously unexplored history for the first time. The original wartime photos featured in the book are complemented by twelve artistic 3D renderings that showcase the most fascinating German camouflage schemes and markings in color for the first time. Almost all of the wartime photos are previously unpublished; to provide proper perspective and context, they are set within a brief overview of the history of American, German, and Soviet off-road vehicles during World War II. The work is rounded out by detailed technical views ("walk-arounds") andlast but not leasta color section featuring images of surviving vehicles, sure to delight enthusiasts and modelers with camouflage patterns, realistic weathering effects, and authentic scenarios. This finally fills another significant gap in the history of World War II military vehicles.
