The G.91, developed by the technical office headed by Professor Giuseppe Gabrielli at Fiat Aviazione - a brand that later became one of the founding members of Aeritalia - marked an important milestone in the history of the Italian Air Force and the Portuguese Air Force, which also used the aircraft in the war. Not all expectations were fulfilled, as some of the hoped-for international orders failed to materialise despite NATO funding. Nevertheless, the G.91R and its two-seat advanced trainer version, the G.91T, played a crucial role in training generations of Western pilots, and many years later this small, elegant aircraft is still fondly remembered.
