The alliances that Germany entered into during the Second World War can be traced back to agreements such as the 1936 pact with Italy, which prompted Italian leader Benito Mussolini to introduce the term Axis. This was followed in 1940 by the Tripartite Pact, which officially united Germany, Italy and Japan as the central Axis powers. Other allied nations included Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria. However, geographical divisions and political disagreements particularly with Japan often hindered effective coordination. This book combines historical military analysis with detailed colour profiles and examines the contributions and roles of the various nations allied with the Axis and their military equipment during the Second World War. Daniele Guglielmi and Mario Pieri renowned experts in military history and model building have teamed up with talented illustrator Claudio Fernández to create an exceptional work for military vehicle enthusiasts and model builders. Fernández provides meticulously researched, high-quality colour profiles of vehicles used by the Axis powers. The result is a reference work for model builders and military history enthusiasts looking for subjects beyond the usual fare. This title features rare vehicles such as the Panther, Tiger and Kübelwagen, as well as Allied vehicles such as the Sherman, T-34, Churchill, Matilda, Jeep and GMC truck, which were used by the Axis powers in special circumstances. Many of the images and details shown are rare and provide a more comprehensive understanding of the vehicles that fought alongside Germany in World War II, even when they were separated by thousands of kilometres, as was the case with Japan.
