Discovered in 1996, the statue of the so-called Celtic prince from Glauberg became a symbolic figure for the Celts north of the Alps. But who were these people we now refer to as Celts? What did the discovery of the Celtic prince mean for Hesse, but also for Iron Age research itself? And where can we still follow in the footsteps of the Celts today? On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the discovery of the Celtic prince, this special issue takes a look at the diversity of insights, questions and fascinations that have arisen since then. Contributions from numerous authors from all over southern Germany paint a multifaceted picture of the time of the Celtic princes and of how a single find can provide impetus far beyond the boundaries of its original sphere of significance.
