Part 2 of the Arnulf Saga. 774 AD: War, rebellion and expulsion shake Charlemagne's empire. While the Frankish king defeats the Lombards in Italy, the Saxon duke Widukind forges an alliance of pagan tribes to strike at the hated Frankish kingdom. In the maelstrom of these events is Arnulf, a Frankish prisoner at Widukind's court. Only he can warn the Franks of the attack - but the escape fails. With the strength of despair, Arnulf braces himself against his fate, while Widukind's warriors prepare for the great storm... A gripping drama from the time of the Saxon wars, which takes the reader across bloody battlefields and through pagan forest wilderness to the mythical sanctuaries of the Falen tribes.
Robert Focken was born in Höxter in North Rhine-Westphalia and grew up in Holzminden. It was from there that Charlemagne once set out for Saxony with his army of warriors. It may be due to this circumstance that Focken has always had an interest in history. Since 1994, Focken has been working in the financial industry, but his heart still beats for the historical events of his region. With his "Arnulf" saga, Focken sets out to bring the German historical novel to blockbuster level.
