When pirates attack the city of Alicante in 1769, the siblings Ana and Joso lose their parents. At the same time, the Spanish king Carlos III decides to settle the island of Tabarca in the sea off Alicante. In this way, he wants to ward off pirate attacks and turn his idea of an "ideal city" into reality. Full of longing for a happier life, Ana and Joso set off for the island. But the new inhabitants have not only brought their hope with them, but also their past. And this threatens to break up the community...
