This work presents the emergence of the first Italian armoured units, their vehicles and weapons, and the men who devoted themselves to them with pioneering spirit. The focus is on the Fiat 3000 tank, which cannot simply be regarded as a derivative of the French FT. The historical and technical aspects are presented in detail and with documentary accuracy, thanks in part to fifteen in-depth text inserts; more than 110 historical images, many of which have never been published before, and 39 colour plates show interesting camouflage schemes, including those from other countries, and numerous details that will always be useful to model builders. In addition, around fifteen black-and-white drawings illustrate the various configurations that the Fiat 3000 took on during its long years of service. The uniforms of the crews and their equipment are also mentioned.
