The Iltis has an eventful history. Originally commissioned by the parent company Volkswagen to AUDI, the 0.5 tmil gl truck was developed in Ingolstadt and manufactured for the Bundeswehr and other armies from 1978.
Due to its drive concept, vehicle history was ultimately written, as Audi engineers developed the Quadro drive from it and thus launched a new age of mobility.
Today, the now aged off-road vehicle is a valuable collector's item and enjoys great popularity due to its excellent off-road capability, solid construction and reliability.
This work by Achim Wagner caters for a wide range of interests. With over 500 photos, sketches and tables, it conveys, in a vivid manner, profound knowledge about the development, technology and use of the Iltis off-road vehicle.
