A volume in the "Legends of Warfare: Ground" series. The German Wehrmacht deployed various light armored vehicles during World War II. These vehicles were collectively designated "Sonderkraftfahrzeug" (Sd.Kfz.). The first of these specially developed light armored vehicles was the Sd.Kfz. 221, which entered series production in 1935. The 221 served as the basis for the more heavily armed Sd.Kfz. 222. The 221 was later re-engineered and produced as a mobile communications platform designated Sd.Kfz. 223. The Sd.Kfz. 260 and 261 were similar to the Sd.Kfz. 223 but were unarmed. A completely different chassis was used for the command vehicle Sd.Kfz. 247; it was offered in both six-wheeled and four-wheeled versions. This work covers all of the aforementioned armored vehicle designations. It contains over 150 illustrations with detailed captions. This content is helpful for identifying and differentiating German light armored vehicles and provides a clear technical description of both the interior and exterior details.
