The Sturmgeschütz III, Sd.Kfz. 142 was a formidable assault gun supplied to the German Army during World War II, made from the hull of the Panzer III medium tank whose entire rolling train, tracks, etc. it borrowed. The installation of the main armament was arranged in rigid casemate instead of a revolving turret. This fact obviously reduced the capabilities of the vehicle, as it was a self-propelled gunner (but increasingly it was also used in an anti-tank version), however, the vehicle was easy to produce and cheaper, so much so that in fact it became the Wehrmachts trump card by being produced in more than 10,000 units.
