Mick Grahamartist and veteran of the Royal Tank Regimenthas been fascinated by tanks his entire life. As a young boy in the late 1960s, he played on the Bundeswehrs decommissioned M47 and M48 tanks, which served as target hulks on the Hohne Training Area in Germanywhere his father was stationed. In the early 1980s, serving as a gunner on a Chieftain tank, he himself fired upon those very "hard targets." Having always cherished these experiences, he pursued painting as a hobby throughout his military career, though for a long time he believed his work was nothing special. Since returning to painting seriously seven years ago, Mick Grahams depictions of tanks in their natural environmentdistinguished by their incredible fidelity to detailhave become highly sought-after by veterans, serving soldiers, museums, and organizations such as the Royal Mail. Richly illustrated with a selection of original artworks, this book tells the fascinating story of a former tank soldier who possesses a unique, self-taught talent for bringing the memories of military personnelboth young and oldback to life.
