In the 1960s, steam was still running almost everywhere on the railways in Europe, both on this side and on the other side of the Iron Curtain. Numerous steam locomotive enthusiasts, especially from the British Isles, travelled the continent and captured the end of the era in unique colour photographs. Peter Waller, a connoisseur of European steam locomotive history, has himself frequently travelled the continent from the islands. In this illustrated book he offers previously unpublished picture material from a British picture archive, which archives the photographic legacies of many friends of rail transport, digitises them and in this way preserves them for posterity.
