The Sächsische Maschinenfabrik Richard Hartmann AG from Chemnitz was one of the most important mechanical engineering companies in Saxony in the early 20th century. In addition to steam engines, spinning machines and turbines, the construction of steam locomotives was a main focus of the company. The product range included almost all types known at the time, and the customer list was broad. Saxon locomotives were also at home in exotic countries.
