A volume in the "Anatomy of the Ship" series. Launched in 1906, HMS Dreadnought was the first battleship armed exclusively with large-caliber guns, revolutionizing battleship design for more than a generation. She was built in Portsmouth in just 14 monthsa record that remains unbroken. At her launch, she surpassed all other ships of her time in firepower and speed. Perhaps even more radical than her design was the proposal to use Parsons turbines, which were still largely untested at the time. Although she saw limited action during her service, her influence was immense, and she gave her name to a class of ship that dominated the world's oceans for more than a generation. As part of the renowned "Anatomy of the Ship" series, this book offers the most comprehensive documentation of the Dreadnought, with a complete collection of excellent line drawings, supplemented by technical details and documentation of her service history.
