On 2 April 1982, Argentina invaded and occupied the Falkland Islands. Britain immediately mobilised a task force to recapture its territory, but the ensuing conflict, which lasted more than two months, cost the British military 255 lives, seven ships and numerous aircraft. From the first Argentine landing on South Georgia to the dynamic battles on land, at sea and in the air, Britain faced extreme adversity. But despite the harsh reality of battle, the British task force maintained its morale through humour, camaraderie and the close bonds forged in the crucible of war. Lost Voices of the Falklands War is the oral history of the conflict, compiled by historian Max Arthur. Through a series of interviews, Arthur provides a raw, unfiltered account of the violence and emotional toll it took on the soldiers, sailors and airmen who fought.
