The climax is a brutal assault on the rebel stronghold of Lukamba, involving ground and air forces. The battle is fierce and results in heavy casualties, leading to a sobering reflection on the futility of war. The story ends without resolution, emphasising the emotional scars that remain and the ongoing complexity of the conflict in a torn nation caught between colonial legacy and Cold War interests.
