Volume 2 of the Encyclopedia of Wargames covers the most popular and easiest painting techniques for wargaming vehicles, designed to achieve quick and effective results. These methods are ideal for hobbyists taking their first steps in this hobby, as well as those who value speed and efficiency. Wargaming combines two hobbies: modelling painting an army and preparing it for battle and gaming deploying that army on the battlefield. This means that hobbyists have to divide their limited time between both aspects. Therefore, in most cases, speed takes precedence over ultimate quality. This does not mean that the painting is poor, but rather that important steps are simplified and skipped in order to achieve effective results in the shortest possible time. This book compiles a collection of simple and accessible painting techniques that are suitable for all target groups, from beginners to experienced hobbyists who want to achieve new effects without sacrificing speed. Classic techniques such as dry brushing, which only require a brush and some paint, are presented, but extensive use is also made of airbrushing. In addition, we will look at the use of different types of paint, focusing mainly on acrylics, but also using enamels and oils to achieve effects, create contrasts and tell a story with materials such as pigments, which can be used to achieve very realistic effects with ease. After these techniques have been covered in detail, several artists will show step by step how to paint a vehicle or unit from start to finish, combining the various methods explained. This volume covers a variety of scales (15, 28 and 32 mm) and themes ranging from science fiction and fantasy vehicles to a helicopter and modern and Second World War themes.
