The history of the pewter figure knows many interesting people. One of the most fascinating is Otto E. Gottstein (1870-1951). He shaped the development of the cultural-historical pewter figure like hardly anyone else. He was the great organiser of the pewter figure over a period of almost two decades. In just a few years, as a private publisher, he had more than 1500 pewter figures engraved, built incomparable dioramas, organised and financed exhibitions in Germany, France, England and the USA. The book presents original designs and drawings of his figures, the dioramas built for major exhibitions and the diversity of his figures.
