The letters come from the archives of the Imperial War Museum in London, and give an impression of the thoughts of soldiers on the fronts of the First and Second World Wars, as well as practically all important conflicts with British or Commonwealth participation since 1945. The soldiers tell of their fears, experiences and worries, but also of beautiful and interesting experiences, of their love for their families at home and of the joy of a coming reunion.
