Drawing on his experience in war zones, where he treated thousands of war wounded, Jean Mayer conducts a geopolitical, global and didactic analysis to offer some keys to understanding the diptych of war and peace. In order to think seriously about peace, one must first have a good understanding of the mechanisms of armed conflict. Starting from an analysis of several wars, he delves deep into the past, looking for moments when peace could have been possible but history went off the rails, analysing the types of wars, nuclear deterrence, the controversial concept of just war and the psychology of war. Finally, he proposes solutions for peace based on Immanuel Kant's eternal idea of peace, diplomacy and evangelical peace, in order to find reasons for hope through spiritual exploration.
