Description
Volume 46 of the series "Soldiers & Weapons". The Thirteen Years' War, also called the War of the Cities, lasted from 1454 to 1466 and began with an uprising of Prussian cities and castles and the local nobility with the aim of gaining independence from the Teutonic Knights ruling East Prussia. The newly founded Prussian League asked the Polish King Casimir IV for help, but in return he demanded that Prussia be incorporated into the Kingdom of Poland.
As a result of the alliance between Poland and the Prussian League, war broke out between them and the Knights of the Order. The bitter fighting ended in 1466 with the Second Peace of Thorns, which gave victory to the Prussian League and Poland.
