Description
This international study conference was organised on the occasion of the five hundredth anniversary of Emperor Maximilian I's death. He was an extraordinary ruler, at the transition from the Middle Ages to modern times, who felt deeply connected to the city of Bolzano, to Runkelstein Castle and the County of Tyrol. The conference volume deals in particular with various aspects of the war that the Emperor waged against the Republic of Venice between 1509 and 1516 and in the course of which Tyrol experienced the expansion that it was to retain - with brief interruptions - for four centuries until the end of the First World War.
