The complete colour volume reconstructs the introduction of the SM.1019 light turboprop aircraft in the ALE from 1976, which was to complement and then replace the Piper PA 18 (L-21B) and the Cessna O1-E (L-19) used by the Viterbo school and the operational departments. 80 of the aircraft were acquired and, after almost twenty years of honourable service, were decommissioned because they were replaced by helicopters. Some aircraft took part in the ONUMOZ mission in Mozambique with the white UN livery, while others took part in the aeronautical demonstrations organised by the Aero Club of Italy in the 1980s. Of the 48 still airworthy aircraft, 5 were refurbished and sold at auction to civilian operators. A page is dedicated to each specimen with photos, departmental crests, STANAGS, etc., with particular attention to colouring and markings.
