Descriptionof Dans le Ciel de France. Histoire de la JG 2 "Richthofen". Volume 6: 1944-1945
-
Manufacturer
This sixth and last volume gives a detailed account of the history of the German Jagdgeschwader 2 "Richthofen" after its final withdrawal from France at the end of August 1944 until the end of the war.
More than 60 years after the end of World War II, the first volume of a detailed chronicle of the German Jagdgeschwader 2, the second largest fighter squadron of the Luftwaffe, undoubtedly the most prestigious and therefore the most "covered" by the German propaganda units, has finally been published. The squadron, which bore the honorary name "Richthofen" from 1935, won numerous victories in the Western campaign and in the Battle of Britain in 1940. It remained in France when most of the fighter units were transferred to the Soviet front in the spring of 1941. JG 2 was then given the thankless task of defending Norman and Breton airspace (as well as parts of the skies over Picardy and Provence) against incursions by Allied air forces until the summer of 1944.
