This is the first volume in a three-volume "Detail & Scale" series devoted to the North American P-51 Mustang, one of the most legendary fighter aircraft ever developed. The book focuses on the early Mustangs equipped with the Allison engine and covers these aircraft from the prototype NA-73X to the P-51A, including the F-6A and F-6B photographic reconnaissance aircraft and the early British Mustang Mk. I, Mk. IA and Mk. II variants. The next volumes will cover the P-51B and C models with Rolls-Royce/Packard engines and the legendary P-51D and subsequent variants.
