Volume 18 of the Witness to War series fills a gap in the account of the Armed Forces of the Italian Fascist Social Republic (RSI) by looking at the artillery units in words and pictures. This is a difficult subject to discuss because, with the exception of the four divisions trained in Germany and equipped on the basis of clearly defined equipment specifications, all divisions fighting under the RSI flag lacked a clear wartime division and equipment list.

It seems rather to have been the case that the artillery units of the RSI were equipped with what could be obtained in the months of reorganisation or what the German ally could obtain.
