A not insignificant part of the bombs dropped by the Allies during the Second World War were unexploded bombs, which had to be removed by professional explosive commanders. However, this dangerous activity has been little appreciated by the general public. One of these "fireworkers" was Heinz Schweizer. On 28 June 1944, he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross for his efforts. This volume describes his childhood, his career as a weapons officer and his leadership activities as a blasting commando commander.
