Description
Self-staging at Carinhall
Only two gatehouses bearing the coat of arms of Reichsmarschall Göring still bear witness to the existence of the Waldhof Carinhall, located some 65 kilometres north of Berlin. The buried site is surrounded by myths and is still visited by treasure hunters. From 1933 onwards, a pompous residence was built here, where the fate of Europe was negotiated, such as the "Anschluss" of Austria and the "break-up" of Czechoslovakia. Knopf reconstructs the history of Göring's residence and describes its buildings, Martens documents which politicians, industrialists and military leaders were guests here and what decisions were made. In the expanded new edition, new insights into Göring's involvement in the extermination of the Jews and his responsibility for the war economy are presented. Additional plans and illustrations have also been included.
