The two volumes meticulously trace the history of the Austro-Hungarian steel helmet, from the first prototypes to its development and production by various industrial companies, with a detailed description of the manufacturing processes of the steel helmet, stories and anecdotes about the use of the helmet during the First World War. The work is not limited to discussing the helmet and accessories for collectors, but also focuses in particular on the Isonzo front and devotes an entire chapter to Austrian-Hungarian General Ludwig Goiginger, who fought on the Russian and Italian fronts, marched through Romania and ended the war as commander of the Austrian-Hungarian troops on the Western Front in Lorraine.
