Description
Various historical and descriptive works have already dealt with the Swiss units of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. What is missing, however, is an organic and comprehensive study of their clothing and equipment. This is the aim of this four-volume collection, which aims to cover the uniforms of the officers, non-commissioned officers and Swiss soldiers of the Naples service, together with the various parts of their extensive wardrobe.
Within the army of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, which was already rich in uniforms, the Swiss units were characterised by their diversity and originality. They were recruited by Francis I (1825-1830) and were initially given uniforms in a style comparable to that of the Royal Guard. This is the second volume dedicated to the Swiss regiments of the Two Sicilies, with illustrations by Bruno Mugnai and contributions by Luca Esposito. It is a volume with more than 900 illustrations showing events, uniforms, headgear, documents, contemporary iconography and accessories. 52 uniformological colour illustrations designed by Bruno Mugnai and 68 pages of English summaries with translations of the pictorial commentaries and descriptions represent the most up-to-date knowledge on the Bourbon infantry of the Risorgimento period.
