Johann Jeremias Glaser (1653-1725) was an executioner by profession. Above all, however, he left a unique accounting record for posterity: in his ledger, he meticulously recorded all the figures of his adult life: what did he spend on jewellery, clothing and food at weddings? What did he take in fees for beheading and torture, but also for healing? This brings us very close to a "completely normal" man of the early modern period.
