The Royal Canadian Air Force, together with the Army and Navy of Canada, forms an integrated part of the Canadian Armed Forces, whose Commander-in-Chief is currently the British King Charles III, who is represented in this capacity by the Governor-General. The primary mission of the Canadian Forces, currently numbering 12,000, is to protect Canada's territorial integrity, secure its airspace and support political and military alliances, most notably NATO.
