The Japanese Type 95 Ya-Go light tank (often confused with or referred to as the Li-Go) was one of the most important light tanks used by the Imperial Japanese Army during the Second World War. It was developed in the mid-1930s and was intended to accompany infantry and be used in difficult terrain such as jungles and Pacific islands. It was also used by the Imperial Navy for their numerous landings in Asia. It was light, fast and mechanically reliable, but poorly armoured and armed with a 37 mm gun, which made it vulnerable to more modern Allied tanks. Despite its limitations, it saw frequent use in China and the Pacific theatre and became one of the symbols of the Japanese armoured forces.
