Joachim Murat (b. 25 March 1767 - 13 October 1815) was a French cavalry officer who made a career in Napoleon's service. He married Caroline Bonaparte and was thus Napoleon's brother-in-law. In 1804 he became Marshal of France. He was Grand Duke of Berg from 1806 to 1808 as Joachim I, and King of Naples from 1808 to 1815 also as Joachim I (Italian: Gioacchino I).
