Description
The first railway line in Mecklenburg was the Prussian Berlin-Hamburg Railway, which opened in 1846. Stations were built in Ludwigslust and Hagenow, among other places. On 10 March 1846, the "Mecklenburgische Eisenbahngesellschaft" (Mecklenburg Railway Company) was granted a concession to build a line from Hagenow to Schwerin and Wismar and via Bützow to Rostock with a branch line to Güstrow. The line was completed on 13 May 1850.
