The smallest and lightest fighter aircraft used by the US Air Force during the Second World War... Or one of the most unconventional fighter aircraft in history. This is how the Bell P-39 Airacobra aircraft can be described. At the time, the concept of an aircraft with nose landing gear and an engine located behind the pilot's seat was something shocking and unbelievable. And yet an aircraft was created that went down in history. If not with the most glittering letters in its homeland, the United States of America, it made up for it on the Eastern Front, where in the hands of Soviet fighter pilots it became one of the most successful types ever to fly under the red star. In this volume of "Battle Legends", the author deals not only with the Bell P-39 Airacobra, but also with its successor, the Bell P-63 Kingcobra fighter aircraft, which was based directly on the Airacobra.
