Volume 149 of the Warpaint series focuses on the Aero L-39 Albatros, a jet trainer and light combat aircraft developed in Czechia in the 1960s by Aero Vodochody as a successor to the L-29 Delfín. It first flew in 1968 and entered service in 1972, becoming the standard jet trainer for Warsaw Pact countries. With over 2,900 built, the L-39 became one of the world's most widely used jet trainers and was praised for its reliability, ease of maintenance and versatility. Building on this heritage, the L-159 ALCA (Advanced Light Combat Aircraft) was introduced in the late 1990s, designed to replace the Czech Air Force's ageing Soviet-era fighter aircraft. It first flew in 1997 and entered service in 2000. This title includes all the regular Warpaint features with historical texts and images, a complete breakdown of the aircraft's worldwide deployment, as well as colour profiles and scale drawings by Petr Kolmann.
