10 years after the Phantom was taken out of service, the two authors want to present in this booklet one of the most distinctive models among the fighter aircraft of the Cold War - the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II - which proved its operational capability and reliability as a fighter bomber and fighter aircraft in the German Air Force units for 40 years in a quantity of 175 aircraft.
Part 1 deals with the beginnings of procurement, training in the USA and chronologically the introduction of this iconic type into the individual units of the Luftwaffe over 48 pages. Due to the volume of material, other units are included in Part 2.
