The main topic of the 18th issue is the deployment of the Douglas C-47, the first transport aircraft of the Bundeswehr. Another extensive topic is a report on the exercise "Rapid Pacific 2022", the largest exercise in the history of the German Air Force. Other articles are devoted to the retirement of the H-21C "Banane", the F-86 "Sabre", as well as the Dornier Do 28 A-1 of the Flugbereitschaft. On the NVA side, Transport Squadron 44 "Arthur Pieck" is dealt with and in the naval aviation section the replacement of the "Sea Kings" by the NH-90NTH "Sea Lion" is described.

The history of the German Air Force (Luftwaffe, Army Air Forces, Naval Air Forces) has hardly been summarised in its entirety since its formation in 1956. This series aims to present the history and development of these separate branches of the German armed forces.
