The Cromwell tank was developed by the British Army during the Second World War to replace the obsolete Crusader in the role of "cruiser tank". The Cromwell was characterised by its very high speed of over 60 km/h and its great manoeuvrability. The speed was often limited so as not to put excessive strain on the tank's mechanics, particularly its suspension, but was nevertheless combined with adequate armour and good armament. The 75 mm main gun mounted in the turret was powerful enough for battles against similarly armoured vehicles and could use the same ammunition as other Allied tanks such as the American Sherman. In addition, the Cromwell played an effective role in close infantry support.

The Panzerkampfwagen V "Panther" was certainly one of the most famous tanks of the Second World War. It was created as a direct response to the Soviet T-34 and KV-1 tanks, which were far superior to the Panzer III and Panzer IV tanks on the Eastern Front in terms of performance and armament. It was powered by a V-12 Mayback engine with 700 hp and was equipped with an extremely effective 75 mm 42 KwK cannon with high velocity, especially for anti-tank defence. Thanks to a solid design that optimised protection, mobility, speed and armament, the Panther can be considered one of the best tanks of the Second World War and was used on all major fronts from Italy to France and the Eastern Front.

Pz.Kpfw.VI Tiger I Ausf.E - Model Set 25,50 €

The Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger I is certainly one of the best-known tanks of the Second World War. It was developed to provide the Wehrmacht's armoured divisions with a heavily armoured and heavily armed tank and to supplement the most popular medium tanks, the Panzer III and Panzer IV, which were no longer able to effectively combat enemy tanks. The main armament was the famous and deadly 88 mm long KwK 36 L/56 anti-tank gun. Installed in the turret and protected by a heavy 120 mm shield, it was capable of penetrating the armour of any enemy vehicle of the time, even over long distances. It was deployed in all major theatres of operations and took an active part in German military operations in Normandy and on the Western Front. Although the heavy tank struggled with reliability and operational problems, in the hands of experienced crews it was always greatly feared by the Allied forces.

The M4 Sherman was undoubtedly the most widely used and deployed armoured vehicle during the Second World War. The M4 was the backbone of the US armoured forces and was produced in numerous versions and variants. The M4A3E8 version, nicknamed the "Easy Eight", was launched at the end of 1944 and emphasised the operational performance of the Sherman thanks to the design changes applied. In addition to the high-speed 76 mm long barrel gun, a modern suspension system (HVSS) with horizontal shock absorbers was added, which was able to provide better traction and significantly improve driving conditions and speed. It was used in the final phase of the Second World War and took an active part in the Korean War.
