Metal parts such as photoetched, aluminium and die-cast parts give floor-standing and RC models that certain "something" in terms of appearance and detailing. However, many modellers are probably familiar with the problem of priming the metal parts, then painting them and gluing them together as a painted part; the result is usually already known to one or the other beforehand. However, the transparent Tamiya Metal Primer turns out to be a little helper. Simply attach the unpainted metal parts to the model, after the bonding has dried, the metal parts can be primed with the Metal Primer. With the included applicator, this can be applied with pinpoint accuracy or to small areas. For larger areas, the use of an airbrush is recommended. This is the basis for a perfect paint finish. The further paint layers (primer, main colour, etc.) are simply applied, the Metal Primer is the adhesion promoter and prevents the paint from "peeling".

This new product not only thins lacquer paints for airbrushing, it also includes retardant to slow the drying of the thinned paint, particularly useful in covering up any overspray and getting a glossy finish.

Can be used to thin Tamiya Color Lacquer Paints and Spray Paints, in a ratio of between 1:1 and 2:1 (thinner:paint).
Retarder slows drying, particularly useful in cases such as that shown overleaf, when undesired overspray can ruin a glossy paint job if it dries before you can get to it.
Helps to avoid blushing (when moisture gets trapped with paint and you end up with a foggy white finish) in humid conditions.

Thinner for Tamiya primer and lacquer paints. When used with an airbrush, it should be mixed/diluted in a ratio of 2:1. The paint residues can be easily removed from the painting tools used, such as brushes and airbrushes, with the thinner. In case of heavier soiling, leave to act a little longer, then rinse with clear water.

This can be used to spray 2 - 3 bodies of 1:24 scale car models. Tamiya colour sprays are not affected by acrylic or enamel paints. After spraying the entire model surface with colour spray, details can be painted with acrylic or enamel paints. Tip:
- Basic information on the selection of primers: White primers are excellent for light colours and light grey or grey primers for dark colours.
- When painting red tones (e.g. TS-8 Italian Red), prepare the model with the primer "Pink" (300087146), this will make the subsequent red tone on the model shine more strongly and with more depth.
- If you want to age, weather or add wear marks to the model, it is recommended to use the primer oxide red (300087160). If you scratch and/or remove the subsequently applied paint, the effect of rust or fallen-off pieces of paint will appear.

Tamiya X and XF acrylic paints are made from water-soluble acrylic resins and are ideal for painting with a brush or for application with an airbrush.
These paints can be used on styrene resins, styrofoam, wood and all common model plastics. For better adhesion, we recommend priming the respective material beforehand (Tamiya Primer e.g. 358/87044 Primer White). The paint covers well, flows smoothly and is easy to mix. Before curing, the paint can be washed away with normal water.

- Colours marked "X" have a glossy finish, while those marked "XF" are matt.

- For airbrush application (0.25 - 0.50 mm depending on the nozzle used), the X-/XF colours should be thinned with Tamiya X-20A Acrylic Thinner (358/X20A, 358/X20B or 358/X20C).

- The X-/XF colours can also be thinned with Tamiya Lacquer Thinner (358/87077). This allows for faster drying and a harder surface finish.

- Adding Tamiya Paint Retarder (358/87114) will give you a smoother finish after drying (max. mixing ratio 1:10).
