The US Army conducted significant experiments with ground-launched versions of the M8 air-to-ground rocket towards the end of the war, with one of the most widely used being the 8-tube T27, codenamed Xylophone. While inaccurate, the rockets packed a serious punch, particularly against unarmoured vehicles and troops caught in the open. Some of these launchers would be mounted on the backs of trucks to produce a mobile system akin to the Soviet Katyusha.

On the Bolt Action tabletop, the Deuce-mounted T27 sports a powerful Multiple Rocket Launcher, a weapon which requires both skill and luck to employ, but has absolutely devastating potential to cause damage. Its a great piece of experimental low-cost self-propelled artillery for a late-war US force, using the Rocket Truck profile from Armies of the United States: Third Edition.

Mounting a pair of .50cal heavy machine guns and a 37mm autocannon on the back of an M3 half-track, the M15 was designed to provide US forces with powerful and versatile mobile anti-aircraft firepower. In June 1940 the American army asked for a lightweight utility vehicle that could go anywhere and everywhere. First seeing combat in British hands in 1942, the M3 Medium Tank was designed to serve as an interim tank while the M4 Sherman was developed and put into production. Despite this, it was by no means a poor vehicle, boasting excellent mechanical reliability and powerful firepower, albeit in a somewhat archaic layout.

This kit allows you to build the M3, with the British-specification welded turret (known to the British in this configuration as the Grant), a powerful Medium tank for the mid-war period. In games of Bolt Action we treat the M3 as a Medium tank with a 9+ damage value, armed with a medium anti-tank gun in the hull, and a light anti-tank gun in the turret, plus a medium machine gun! You can also field the Grant in games of Achtung Panzer!, and its rules can be found in the Iron Coffins supplement.

US Airborne officers went through the same rigorous training program as their men, producing leaders who were just as tough as the troops they commanded. Heavy emphasis was placed on aggression and initiative, as platoon commanders would often be expected to operate away from senior leadership for extended periods of time - this would prove essential during the intense but often localised fighting during the Battle of the Bulge. Specialists attached to headquarters units such as radiomen and medics would also receive the same training - they were paratroopers first and foremost.
