Always interested in politics he rose rapidly through the ranks of government and held several of the most senior positions including minister president and Prussias foreign minister. Bismarck also provoked three short, successful wars against Denmark, Austria and France which gained Prussia additional territory and the impetus to finally gather all the minor German states together under one leader with one aim... to be the leading power in continental Europe. As a personality, away from the political sphere, Bismarck was strong-willed, outspoken and sometimes overbearing but he could also be polite, charming and witty when the situation demanded it. MEMORIALS Even during his lifetime von Bismarck was widely recognized for his many achievements. All over Germany during his life many citizens began to praise him and throughout the country, monies were donated to erect statues and monuments celebrating his work, some of which survive to this day. This latest TR release is inspired by a statue of the great man which can still be seen in the Tiergarten Park in Berlin and depicts him in traditional German military uniform.

According to Ms. Angela Kelly, the Queens long-serving personal attendant, among her favourites were these three selections featured here. TR014 portrays Queen Elizabeth in a shade of Royal Purple with of course, matching coat and hat together with simple classic black bag and shoes. Around her feet are a trio of Royal Corgis. Since she was a small child the Queen had loved and appreciated these small Pembroke Welsh Corgi dogs beginning with her first called Dookie in 1933.

Nicholas? is dressed as the Colonel-In-Chief of his Regiment while his son, the Tsarevich Alexei is uniformed as a junior subaltern of his particular regiment. Few could have predicted that both of them together with the rest of their Royal Family would be cruelly murdered by the Bolsheviks just five years later.

He would go on to become the longest-reigning monarch of this ill-fated conglomeration until his death at the age of 86 in 1916. Franz-Josephs reign was anything but peaceful and throughout this period was beset by wars, revolts, suicides and assassinations... often involving close members of his own family. The two most notable being the killing of his heir apparent, the Archduke Franz-Ferdinand and his wife Sophie in Sarajevo in June 1914. This murderous act was to ultimately lead to the outbreak of World War One just two months later. Our K&C rendition of the Emperor is based on several portraits of Franz-Joseph as well as a mounted statue and shows him in a typical saluting pose while riding one of his favourite horses.

She would also attend the annual State Opening of Parliament where she would address a joint assembly of Parliament that would include all members of the lower House of Commons as well as the upper chamber, the House of Lords. For all of these more formal State occasions the late Queen would wear a long, simple but classic evening gown decorated with a blue Riband sash representing the Order of The Garter. Sitting near the top of the Riband are a pair of Royal Family Orders which are special medallions only awarded to female members of the British royal family. Lower down is the large Star of the Garter Order. Her majesty also wears the George ? diadem, considerably smaller and less cumbersome than the awesome Imperial State Crown which is usually only worn at coronations.

To the general public he is best-known for having six wives which in turn led to his dispute with the Pope in Rome and the beginning of the English Reformation which separated the Church of England from papal authority.
Throughout his life, Henry was also a serial womanizer which alas, proved fatal for some of his spouses. In addition he could be egotistical, frequently paranoid and occasionally... tyrannical.
This figure is based on several portraits of the King painted in the prime of his life by the painter Hans Holbein, a contemporary of the monarch.

She married the King following the execution of Anne Boleyn in 1536 and gave birth to his heir in 1537. Tragically she died of complications from the birth just 12 days later.
Known for her quiet and demure nature, Jane was a particular favourite of Henry and as a sign of this great affection the king made it known that he was to be buried next to her at Windsor. Ten years later he got his wish.
Anne Boleyn was Henry's second wife after he divorced Catherine of Aragon and became Queen for just 3 years from 1533-1536. It was Anne who was to give her husband a daughter who would later became one of England's greatest monarchs, Elizabeth I.
In a cruel twist of fate, after just three years of marriage Anne was investigated for high treason and adultery on charges which most historians now agree were false.
Alas for Anne, there was to be no reprieve and she was executed at The Tower of London on May 19, 1536.
Both of these ladies are finely dressed in the fashion of those times and as they would have appeared in happier days.

While there a young Bosnian extremist, Gavrilo Princip, shot and killed the Royal couple as they drove through the city. The assassinations, along with a European arms race, hyper-nationalism, the military ambitions of Imperial Germany and a toxic system of political alliances all contributed to the outbreak of the First World War just a few short weeks after Franz Ferdinands violent death. King & Countrys two newest and alas ill-fated royal couple shows the Arch Duke and his wife in a lighter, happier moment before the tragic events of 28 June 1914.

Rasputin was born to a peasant family in Siberia and from an early age was fascinated by religion and mysticism. Although never officially ordained as a priest in the Russian Orthodox Church he became a wandering pilgrim who would sometimes preach and take part in leading some church rituals. Eventually his travels led him to St. Petersburg, Imperial Russias capital, where he captivated some high church and social leaders. Soon he came to the attention of the Royal Court circles and met the Tsar and the Tsarina in 1905. A year later, Rasputins skill as a healer helped the Imperial couples only son, Alexei recover from a severe attack of hemophilia. This enabled Rasputins influence and power at Court to swiftly rise however although revered by some, others saw him as divisive and evil figure. His personal behavior was equally scandalous and caused much controversy, both public and private for the Tsar and his family. Eventually, in December 1916 matters came to a head when a group of high-ranking nobles murdered Rasputin. Legend has it that several years before, this self-proclaimed mystic predicted that should he die by violent means then the Russian Royal Dynasty would also suffer a similar fate. How true that proved to be... This K&C Rasputin is dressed in a priests plain, grey cassock and holds a gold Russian Orthodox cross to his chest.
