In this book we find 10 years of work by the great modeler José Brito; throughout the 552 pages, the author shows his different techniques and tricks to build, construct and paint models, almost always in a setting of a diorama. The book has been written as much for novices as for experienced modelers, beginning with a description of the tools, materials and colors used by José Brito, and following with step by step descriptions of the models shown on the pages. Being such a large work, the models in the book cover a large number of subjects: buildings of different periods, sea and beaches, wooded areas and deserts, realistic settings or Science Fiction scenes, different seasons of the year, figures and military vehicles and aircraft. This new photo album is number 28 in the "Camera on" series. It is the first to cover in such photographic detail the German usage of both the 20mm Flak 28 and the Flak 30. Both of these weapons saw extensive action on all battle fronts of the Second World War wherever the German armed forces saw service. While they were both excellent weapons at their time of development, they both rapidly became less effective as ever faster and higher flying aircraft were produced by Germanys enemies. This book contains more than 140 photographs taken by the average German soldier of both the 20mm Flak 28 and 30 as well as their crews while in service and many of the environments they had to operate within.

This volume illustrates these weapons as the soldiers themselves viewed them in both their fighting environment and, in many cases, just as a tool they lived with and had to look after on a daily basis, not the highly polished and sanitized views of the official photographers. If it can be said that adversity generates creativity, then the story of the Heinkel He 162 jet fighter is testimony to such a precept. From the summer of 1944, the adversity facing the leadership of the Third Reich was formidable. Ironically however, the very existence of such adversity prompted many inventive designs for the air defence of the Reich on a determined and even manic scale. The pinnacle of these accomplishments was the so-called "Volksjäger" (the "People's Fighter") project which was, and still is, regarded as a "miracle of production". Created in desperation by the Nazi leadership in mid-1944, and powered by a BMW turbojet, the He 162 was known to its pilots as the "Spatz" (the "Sparrow"). It represented an unprecedented aeronautical and engineering achievement, with the aircraft going from drawing board to prototype flight in just three months, often at considerable human cost. In this book, aviation historians Robert Forsyth and Eddie J. Creek draw, for the first time, on hundreds of previously unused Heinkel company papers to offer a unique insight into the workings of the Nazi production system in the late-war period, as well as other German and Allied documents. In July 1940 Britain faced the very real possibility of being invaded by Germany. Hitlers war machine had subjugated the Continent in six weeks and "Engeland" was next on the list. The German Navy had been working on the logistics for a seaborne invasion of England since the autumn of 1939, just in case it was sprung on them at short notice some-time in the future. In July 1940 the operation was given the code-name "Seelöwe" (Sealion) which was to be mounted from French, Belgian and Dutch ports on the Channel coast. However, arguments between the German Army, Navy and Air Force took weeks to resolve, yet in the end it was the failure of Hermann Görings Luftwaffe to achieve air supremacy over the Royal Air Force that prevented the invasion becoming a reality. In this book we recount the story right from the beginning, covering all the significant events in the months from August 1939, through the build-up in the summer months, to October 1940 when Hitler accepted that orders must be given to postpone "Seelöwe".

However, it took weeks for the disputes over competences between the German army, navy and air force to be resolved. In the end, it was the failure of Hermann Göring's Luftwaffe to gain air supremacy over Great Britain that prevented the invasion from being realised. This book documents the history of the "Sea Lion" operation in words and pictures from its beginnings to its indefinite postponement in October 1940. It shows in detail the work and efforts undertaken by the German Wehrmacht between August 1939 and the summer of 1940 to realise Operation Sea Lion.

He also shows how to accomplish the best possible end result following his step-by-step painting sequences of mixed media techniques with acrylics and oils. The second feature is by well-known master artist James Rice and dedicated to a bust of the French Revolution period where he explains how to adopt the Verdaccio undercoat technique specifically to busts. There are 39 photos illustrating this feature, which are more than enough and where everyone can follow James step-by-step painting techniques using acrylics and oils. Louis D Orio a master of oil painting miniatures returns with a dual bust painting feature from Ancient times using his method of oil painting techniques. A detailed text accompanies the excellent quality photos of Dienekes and Hydarnes. Joachim Peiper, a German SS officer from WW2 is next, painted by the well-known master artist Christos Katselos. Christos gives some in-depth information for eyes and face painting with more than 20 step-by-step photos. All areas of the bust have detailed paint mixes and details on how to apply them. Ernesto Reyes Stalhuth, another of our regular contributors, offers two WW2 subjects; RAF Bomber Command aircrew and a German Fallschirmjäger Feldgendarmerie with his master class method of painting. He explains everything in his detailed text and all the painting mixes are included so readers can easily paint their own versions. This particular issue will cover in depth the construction of a diorama based on wartime photos and events. The main theme is a detachment of German Forces from Kampfgruppe "Hansen", 1st SS Panzer Division, at Poteau on 18th December 1944 - two days into the Battle of the Bulge - after setting up an Ambush of an American convoy of the 14th Cavalry Group. This big operation by the German Forces, known as Ardennes Offensive, was the last in such a large scale before the end of War. This book includes 60 high quality photos, 30 of which are in-progress, and a very detailed text, so the reader can easily follow the whole procedure in detail from start to finish. The author included all the sets, accessories, and paint codes used to add all the details to the diorama as well as the full interior of the Tamiya M8 armoured car.
